The country is witnessing new cases of corruption by the passing of each day. Theses cases are raising serious questions over the intent and efficiency of incumbent United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. On the one hand, government reiterates its commitment to curb corruption but on the other hand no strong steps are visible which could check this decade old ailment. However, a couple of weeks back government took a major decision which is likely to bring down the number of corruption cases, if implemented effectively.
Despite tall claims about positive impact of globalization, India is still considered as a nation of farmers and about 70 percent of its population still relies on agriculture for livelihood. A section of economists says repeatedly that the contribution of this sector in GDP is coming down day by day. However, Congress led UPA government pretends to be concerned about the condition of farmers and agriculture but in terms of policy the government appears to be anti farmer.
